| To: All Eagle Scouts, ages 18 and younger, from the State of Washington: The Inland Northwest Council will be participating in the “Report to the State” for Washington. This annual event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 8th and Wednesday, February 9th, 2011. Five Eagle Scouts from each of the five councils in the state will represent the Boy Scouts of America at the report. The Inland Northwest Council contingent will travel from Spokane to Tacoma for the two-day, one-night stay. Tuesday evening Scouts will stay at the Red Lion Hotel, Olympia where there will be a reception for Scouts and parents. On Wednesday the Eagle Scouts will present the Report to State on both the floor of the house and senate. In the event that the house and/or senate are not in session, the presentation will be made in the rotunda. Scouts will spend Wednesday afternoon shadowing a government official and enjoy a closing banquet with Attorney General of Washington, Rob McKenna (also an Eagle Scout) and Lt. Governor, Brad Owen. This will be an incredible honor for the five Eagle Scouts chosen to represent the Inland Northwest Council. We are currently seeking applications from outstanding Eagle Scouts to represent our council and the Boy Scouts of America. Successful applicants will be Eagle Scouts who are not yet 19 years old (as of 12-31-10), have excellent speaking skills, are outstanding leaders, and are interested in learning about our state government. Applicants must be currently registered and active in their Troop, Team or Crew. There is no cost to the Eagle Scouts seleceted to participate in this trip. Parents of selected Scouts may also attend as chaperones. Scouts will have to provide their own, complete Scout uniform. The timeline is extremely tight – the absolute deadline for applications is Friday, December 17th at 5:00 p.m. Click here to download the application.
