2013 Cub Country Leader & Parent Guide

 

Cub Country, located at Cowles Scout Reservation on Diamond Lake, near Newport, WA is the Inland Northwest Council's camp dedicated to Cub Scout resident camp. 

 

Cub Country offers theme-oriented programs for Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts. All boys ages 6 to 10, registered in Cub Scouts, can attend Cub Country. 

 

Reservations for Cub Country can be made for a Cub Scout / Parent team, a Cub Scout Den or for the entire Pack!

How to get to Cub Country: From Interstate 90 take the Division Street Exit which is also marked Newport Highway 2and 195. Stay on Division Street approx. 4 miles until the roadway splits into a "Y" at Newport Highway. The Newport Highway continues for about 40 minutes. Turn left from the highway onto North Shore road. There will be a sign on the highway that says "Camp Cowles BSA" to assist you. Stay on North Shore for about 4 miles until you reach the Scout Reservation.

 

Adult Leadership at Cub Country:  For Family Reservations at least one parent or legal guardian must attend with their Scout. If a parent is unable to attend, a Scout may attend with another adult (preferably a relative or family friend) with a signed permission form from parent.

For Den/Pack Reservations a minimum of 2 adult leaders per den or pack must attend. In addition, the adult to Scout ratio guidelines of the Inland Northwest Council must be followed. The guidelines adn information about how adults can attend free of charge is listed on the 2011 Cub Country Reservation Form.

  

Webelos Only Session:   Session 5 is a special session at Cub Country for Webelos Scouts, thier parents and leaders.  Webelos will be boys entering grades 4 and 5 in the fall of 2011.  This session of camp will have an extra activities and programs with an emphasis on the transition from Webelos to Boy Scouts.

 

All sessions of Cub Country will have age-appropriate activities for Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts.

 

 

 

Camp Scholarships

Camp scholarships are awarded to Scouts who could not attend camp without financial assistance. Camp scholarships are made possible by donations from concerned community groups, individuals, memorial funds, and donations to the council's Friends of Scouting Campaign. Camp scholarships are granted to Inland Northwest Council Scouts that are attending Inland Northwest Council summer camps. Scholarships are granted for amounts of one half the camp fee or less. To download a "Camp Scholarship Application", click here.
