Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. Why can't my unit accept adult applications with any "Yes" answered background questions?​​​​ Once the Chartered Org Rep (CR) accepts the application and supplies a note explaining why they accept the application, it then needs to be accepted online by the Scout Executive (SE) with a note as well.
    Please reach out to your District Executive (DE) if this happens.

  2. Can I access Scoutbook to record advancement for my Lone Scout? Unfortunately, Scoutbook is incompatible with Lone Scout advancement recording. ​​​Any advancement will need to be turned in to the Council office
    (in-person or via email inland.northwest@scouting.org) using the official Scouting America Advancement Report found here https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34403.pdf.

  3. Where is my unit's online application link? This can be found in several locations. One of them is at beascout.org under your program/zip code! Another is in My.Scouting.org in your unit's Invitation Manager.

  4. Why can't adults apply to my unit? In My.Scouting.org, go to your unit's Organization Manager -> Settings and make sure "Allow adult applications" is selected. Click "Save" and wait overnight.

  5. Can I Transfer/Multiple register myself or my Scout from one unit/council to another? Yes! ​Please consult the document found here. You will need the application link for the gaining unit.

  6. How can my unit fully utilize all the online capabilities available? You can go to the Online Registration website at scouting.org/resources/online-registration. This contains many guides and videos detailing all the options available to your unit, including the Online Registration Unit Guidebook.

  7. Our members all renewed themselves. Is that all our unit needs to do? No, member renewal is separate from unit renewal. Please go to nwscouts.org/renewal and download the Unit & Member Renewal Guidebook.

  8. I took my Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT). Why is it not showing up on my registration? Your My.Scouting.org account may not be connected to your registration profile. Please email your completion certificate to inland.northwest@scouting.org to update your profile.
